Fort Museum - A replica of the original North West
Mounted Police outpost built in 1874, the museum explores early
Native, pioneer and police history in the region. Two original
buildings still stand on the site, which contains a pioneer
blacksmith shop, chapel and dispensary. View a colorful local
version of the RCMP musical ride, performed four times daily in
July and August by students dressed in replica uniforms. Special
celebrations are held July 1.

Empress Theatre - Historic vaudeville roadhouse and
silent picture theatre since 1912. Oldest operating theatre in
Alberta. Restored, it now offers first run movies, community and
professional theatre presentations and musicals. Downtown Historic District - In 1984, the Fort Macleod
downtown area was declared the province's first historic
district. Contains some 30 buildings of historical significance,
which have been developed in a walking tour format. |
