Flowers and Birds
Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada
|
Waterton Park's wide
variety of habitats is a haven for an
astonishing number of plants and
wildflowers. Due to the "Prairies
to Peaks" environment in the park,
plants that live in prairies all the way
to the peaks of the mountain live in the
park, about 1400 varieties.
"Beargrass" is unique to this
area, and the Pygmy Poppy has been found
in Canada in Waterton Park only. Amongst
these plants are over 250 species of birds.
Positioned on the axis of two major
migratory corridors, Waterton Lakes is a
bird watchers paradise! |
